2 Chainz Shuts Down Cam Newton After Being Pressed to Pick Sides in Every Rap Beef

Cam Newton tried to drag 2 Chainz into the Drake-Kendrick, A Rocky, and T.I.-50 Cent beefs on Funky Friday. The rapper's response — 'I don't put people against each other like you do' — has over 600K views and counting.

Cam Newton tried to pull 2 Chainz into every rap beef in existence. 2 Chainz wasn't having it.

A 4-minute clip from a recent episode of Newton's Funky Friday podcast has gone massively viral — over 607,000 views on X — after the former Carolina Panthers quarterback repeatedly pressed the Atlanta rapper to take sides in the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar rivalry, A$AP Rocky's issues with Drake, and the T.I. vs. 50 Cent saga.

2 Chainz's response? A masterclass in minding your own business.

"I Don't Put People Against Each Other Like You Do"

Newton opened the segment by positioning 2 Chainz as "the cool dude right in the middle" of multiple feuds — pointing out that he literally appeared on "F**kin' Problems" alongside Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and A$AP Rocky back in 2012, a track that now feels like a time capsule from a different era given how fractured those relationships have become.

But 2 Chainz wasn't biting. Sitting back relaxed with his arms crossed, he kept it simple: "I ain't got nothing to do with it. I mind my business. I didn't grow up with these people. I met them as adults."

When Newton pressed further, asking if it was "awkward" being a rapper in this climate and suggesting that eventually you have to "choose a side," 2 Chainz pushed back immediately. "Why? I don't see these people regularly. They're just industry acquaintances."

Cam Keeps Pushing — 2 Chainz Keeps Shutting It Down

Newton then ran through a laundry list of feuds — Cardi B vs. Nicki Minaj, Young Thug vs. 50 Cent, T.I. vs. 50 Cent, Rick Ross and others — describing hypothetical scenarios where you'd be forced to pick sides at festivals and events.

2 Chainz dismissed every one. "I cheer for everyone. I don't mess with other people's affairs."

When Newton used the phrase "matriculate through the minutia" to ask how 2 Chainz navigates rap's competitive landscape (yes, that's an actual sentence Cam Newton said), the rapper's frustration became visible: "I f**k with who f**ks with me. If it ain't got nothing to do with me, I don't engage."

The real moment came when 2 Chainz cut through the noise entirely: "I don't care… I don't put people against each other like you do."

Newton, finally reading the room, replied with a simple "Understood." But the tension lingered.

Why This Clip Hit Different

The exchange resonated because it exposed a growing tension in podcast culture. Hosts — especially those crossing over from sports — have learned that the fastest path to viral clips is pushing guests to pick sides in beefs. It's a formula: name-drop a feud, pressure the guest, capture the reaction, clip it for X.

2 Chainz rejected the formula entirely. And fans loved it.

The rapper demonstrated something that's increasingly rare in the content era: the ability to have genuine relationships across multiple camps without feeling the need to publicly rank them. He doesn't listen to gossip, doesn't track subliminals, and doesn't lose sleep over other people's problems.

As one commenter put it: "2 Chainz showed more maturity in 4 minutes than most people show in a career."

Cam Newton's Podcast Empire

The clip adds another chapter to Newton's post-NFL media career, which has been a mix of highs and lows. His Funky Friday podcast has generated consistent viral moments — from his controversial remarks about platonic friendships with women to headline-making interviews with Lady London and the Pour Minds hosts.

However, his BET show 106 & Sports, produced by LeBron James' SpringHill Company, was cancelled after just 8 episodes in December 2025 despite featuring guests like Brittney Griner, Claressa Shields, and Chad Ochocinco. BET cited "programming direction" as the reason.

Newton's interview style — aggressive, unfiltered, and deliberately provocative — has made him one of the most-discussed podcast hosts in the culture. Whether that's a compliment or a criticism depends entirely on how you feel about hosts who prioritize viral moments over genuine conversation.

Either way, Cam Newton is appointment content. You just might not always like the appointment.
