Nintendo Drops Indie World Showcase and Silksong Fans Are Losing Their Minds
Nintendo's Indie World Showcase reveals Switch 2 indie games while Silksong speculation hits fever pitch ahead of its March 12 Game Pass launch.
Nintendo is not letting up.
Fresh off the massive Pokemon Pokopia launch, Nintendo dropped a new Indie World Showcase on March 3, focused on indie games for both Switch and Switch 2.
The 15-minute presentation was compact but loaded. Developers showed off how the Switch 2's upgraded hardware - more RAM, DLSS support, improved processing - powers indie games that would've been impossible on the original Switch. Enhanced Editions of existing hits were announced alongside new titles leveraging the console's haptic feedback.
The Silksong Factor
The internet immediately latched onto one question: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong finally getting a date?
The original Hollow Knight recently received a Switch 2 upgrade patch, fueling speculation that Team Cherry is positioning Silksong as a marquee title. Xbox confirmed Silksong for Game Pass on March 12, but Nintendo fans want a simultaneous release - or better yet, a shadow drop.
After years of clown emoji memes and radio silence, the hype has only intensified. If Silksong delivers, it could be the indie game of the decade.
Switch 2: The Indie Machine
Nintendo is positioning the Switch 2 as the ultimate indie platform. The original Switch was already beloved by indie devs - Hades, Celeste, and Stardew Valley found massive audiences on handheld. The Switch 2 doubles down with hardware that runs demanding indie titles without compromise.
With Resident Evil Requiem proving the Switch 2 handles AAA ports and the indie pipeline looking stacked, Nintendo's new console is hitting its stride faster than anyone expected.
