PlayStation CEO Confirms PS5 Pro's Most Requested Features Are Coming in 2026 Update
PlayStation CEO confirms PS5 Pro update bringing VRR support, Discord integration, and enhanced streaming features this summer.
PlayStation fans, your patience might finally pay off. In a surprise announcement at GDC 2026, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that several highly-requested PS5 Pro features are landing in a major system update this summer.
The biggest news? Variable refresh rate support for 1440p gaming will finally arrive, giving competitive gamers the smooth experience they've been demanding. Even bigger: Sony is adding native Discord voice chat integration, ending the awkward phone-app workaround that nobody liked.
"We hear our community," Ryan said during the keynote. "These aren't just nice-to-haves anymore - they're essential for the gaming experience people expect in 2026."
The update also includes enhanced 3D audio processing for non-Sony headphones, faster game switching between multiple titles, and - in a move that'll make streamers happy - native Twitch streaming with zero latency.
No exact date yet, but Sony promises the update will hit before the summer gaming season kicks off. About time.
