Russell Wilson Takes Stepson Future Jr. on First College Visit to Texas Longhorns
NFL quarterback Russell Wilson shared a heartwarming video touring the University of Texas campus with his 11-year-old stepson Future Zahir Wilburn Wilson, the son of rapper Future and Ciara, marking the kid's first-ever college visit.
In one of the most wholesome moments of the weekend, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson took his 11-year-old stepson Future Zahir Wilburn Wilson on his very first college campus visit - and they went straight to Austin to check out the University of Texas Longhorns.
Wilson shared a 61-second video on social media Saturday showing the two riding around the UT campus together, both rocking Longhorns shirts with matching grins. The caption? "Hook 'Em! Fun time! Future's first campus visit!"
A Two-Sport Prospect at 11
Future Jr. - the biological son of rapper Future and R&B powerhouse Ciara - plays both football and baseball, which is exactly why the visit included tours of both the Longhorns' football and baseball facilities. The pair even got face time with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.
The kid turns 12 in May, and while college is still years away, the visit signals that the Wilson-Ciara household is already thinking long-term about his athletic future. According to the Houston Chronicle, Future Jr. has taken Russell Wilson's last name - a testament to the bond between the NFL star and his stepson.
More Than Just Celebrity
What made the moment resonate with fans wasn't the celebrity factor - it was the genuine stepdad energy. Wilson has been in Future Jr.'s life since the boy was a toddler, and moments like these show the depth of that relationship. Comments on the video were flooded with praise for Wilson's commitment as a father figure.
Russell Wilson, who spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has always been vocal about family being his top priority. Taking his stepson on a college tour - at 11 years old - is the kind of forward-thinking parenting that sets kids up for success whether they go pro or not.
Why Texas?
The Longhorns have been on a tear under Sarkisian, and with their SEC move cementing them as one of college sports' premier destinations, it's no surprise they'd be on any young athlete's radar. Whether Future Jr. ends up in burnt orange or somewhere else entirely, the fact that Russell Wilson is already planting those seeds says everything about how seriously this family takes his development.
Hook 'em, indeed.
